Andrea Cecon (born January 30, 1973, Udine, Italy), retired hearing aids technician and composer of haiku, renku, haiga, and especially haibun in both English and Italian. His work has been published in the major print and online journals throughout Western and Eastern Europe, Japan, Australia, and North America. His collections of haibun include: Selected Haibuns (e-book, 2013, in English), Haibun italiani (e-book, 2014), and Cartoline da Kiev (2017; Postcards from Kiev), and more recently a half-dozen Kindle e-chapbooks. Cecon was listed among the European Top 100 most creative haiku authors (2010–2013, 2015). His haiku have won recognition in the Mainichi Haiku Contest (2010, 2011, 2013), the Romanian Sharpening the Green Pencil Haiku Contest (2012), the Polish International Haiku Competition (2013), and the Italian Haiku Association’s International Matsuo Bashō Award, 2014. Cecon was vice president of the IHA and served as a judge for the Bashō Award in 2015. He resides in Cividale del Friuli, Italy, with his wife, fellow poet Valeria Simonova-Cecon.
