Elaine Whitman (born Elaine Weiss, December 25, 1947, Trenton, New Jersey, U.S.A.), American academic and haiku poet and editor. She is Professor Emerita, University of Utah School of Medicine, where she taught faculty and students how to support victims of domestic abuse. Whitman is an active member of the Yuki Teikei Haiku Society and coedited with Neal Whitman the 2021 and 2022 YTHS members’ anthologies. She tied for 3rd Prize in the 2011 Kiyoshi and Kiyoko Tokutomi Haiku Contest, won 1st Prize in 2015, and took an Honorable Mention in 2016. She has also been an invited guest poet at the annual YTHS Spring Reading. Whitman has resided in Pacific Grove, California, since 2008.
