Ferenc Bakos (Hungarian style: Bakos Ferenc; born January 28, 1946), electrical engineer, translator, and haiku poet. He has published over 300 haiku and translated from English into Hungarian all major Japanese poets. In 2009, he won an “Honorable” award in the English section of the Ito En Tea Company’s “New Haiku” competition. In 2015 he published Desert Wind, a volume of haiku and haibun in English and Hungarian. In the same year, he translated, with Judit Vihar, Katō Kōko’s famous modern Japanese haiku collection, Hidden Pond. He resides in Siófok, Hungary.
