Fred Schofield

Fred Schofield (born October 24, 1950, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, U.K.). Retired from teaching guitar in schools in 2015 and qualified in 2018 to teach the Alexander Technique. His haiku have been published in several magazines and anthologies, and he has four solo collections to his credit: Sway (1997), small snorings (2000), wet grass laughing (2008), and hazy dawn (2012). He has been active in teaching and popularizing haiku in England and abroad, for example, co-curating the Haiku Presence Exhibition that toured England in 1998; running, together with Martin Lucas, a series of public drop-in renku sessions in Yorkshire and Lancashire (2000–2001); presenting the Around Haiku project in six Leeds primary schools and other local venues (2005–2006); and teaching a week-long haiku class at Düsseldorf International Elementary School every year from 2008 to 2011. Schofield resides in Leeds, U.K.
