Ginka Biliarska

Ginka Biliarska (Bulgarian Cyrillic: Гинка Билярска, born Ginka Dimitrova Biliarska, June 5, 1946, Svishtov, Bulgaria; died July 30, 2007, Sofia), Bulgarian journalist, poet, playwright, and author of essays, articles, and children’s books. After graduating in Slavic studies from St. Kliment Ohridski University, Sofia, she pursued her studies in languages and journalism at universities in Birmingham, England, and Moscow, Russia. In 1973 she joined the Union of Bulgarian Journalists and worked for more than 20 years as a journalist. She was one of the founders of the Bulgarian Haiku Club and served as its secretary (2000–2003), and chair (2003–2007). She was the winner of many national and international awards both as poet and playwright. Biliarska was the editor of the haiku anthologies Цветето (2002; The Flower); Розата (2003; The Rose); Пътят (2004; The Road). She resided in Sofia.
