John Rowlands (born September 24, 1947, Aberystwyth, Wales), taught art for 20 years before becoming art education officer at the National Museum of Wales (1990–1996). Rowlands began writing haiku in 1992. He was awarded the Museum of Haiku Literature Award in 2016. Published cylymau tywod / knots of sand and has been included in two Red Moon Press anthologies. Author of “Transcreation,” Wales Haiku Journal, concerning haiku in relation to Welsh language poetics and aspects of translation. Member of The British Haiku Society and Haiku Canada. Currently working on a digital haiku collection in Welsh. Resides in Tremadog, Gwynedd, Wales.
