Kariuki wa Nyamu

Kariuki wa Nyamu (born September 8, 1985 in Njega village, Kanyeki-ini, Kirinyaga, Central Province, Kenya), haiku poet, editor, reviewer, translator, schoolteacher, radio playwright, and filmmaker. He works as an education correspondent for the Daily Nation newspaper in Nairobi. Holding a degree in English literature and education from Makerere University, Uganda, he is pursuing an M.A. at Kenyatta University, Nairobi. His poems have appeared in the Best “New” African Poets anthologies four years running (2015–2018) and in The Mamba journal. Nyamu won the National Book Trust of Uganda (NABOTU) Literary Award (2007), the Makerere University Creative Writing Competition (2010), and the Babishai Haiku Award in 2017. He has also coauthored a children’s poetry and short story anthology. He resides in Kirinyaga county, Central Kenya.
