László Bertók (Hungarian style: Bertók László; born December 6, 1935, Vése, Hungary; died September 2020), librarian and poet. In 1955, he was sentenced to eight months in prison on charges of “incitement against the state order” for some of his poems. He wrote his first haiku in 1999 based on the experience of an eclipse. His seventeenth book of poems, the haiku volume titled Háromkák (Little Threes) was published in 2004. This book contains three in the fifth power number, i.e. 243 haiku. The third line of each haiku rhymes with the first, hence their name is “little threes.” Resided in Pécs, Hungary.
