Lucia Cardillo (born October 29, 1958, Rodi Garganico, Foggia, Italy), administrative assistant at the Conservatorio di Musica Umberto Giordano in her hometown. She began writing haiku in 2016, and her work has been published widely since. Cardillo has won honors in the Mainichi Daily News Haiku in English (2017–2019); 1st Place in the Premio Letterario “Gustavo Pece” (Haiku Section, 2018); 3rd Place and Readers’ Choice in the World Haiku Association’s Giappone Svelato Haiku Poetry Contest (Bari, 2019); Honorable Mention in the Premio Nazionale Artistico e Letterario Novella Torregiani (Associazione Culturale Euterpe, Jesi, 2020) and for the best of issue in Autumn Moon Haiku Journal 2019. She has been listed among the European Top 100 most creative haiku authors from 2017 through 2022; and had a haiku shortlisted for Dwarf Stars (2019). Cardillo published a haiku collection, All’ombra del gelso (In the Shade of the Mulberry Tree), in 2019. She lives in Rodi Garganico, Italy.
