Małgorzata Formanowska (born Małgorzata Zuzanna Miksiewicz, January 30, 1985, Wrocław, Poland), Polish philologist and haiku and haiga poet. She has published her work in Polish and international publications, including The Mainichi, Frogpond, The Heron’s Nest, World Haiku Review, Under the Bashō, The Cicada’s Cry, and Autumn Moon Haiku Journal. In addition to being named Laureate of the 2018 Ewa Tomaszewska Poetry Award, the top honor for haiku in Polish, she has been recognized in the Polish National “Cherries and Willows” Haiku Contest and the Wild Plum Haiku Contest. Honors have also come in the international Sharpening the Green Pencil Haiku Contest (2018), the ukiaHaiku Festival (Jane Reichhold International Haiku Prize, 2018), the Yamadera Bashō Memorial Museum English Haiku Contest (2020), and the Bashō-an International English Haiku Competition (2020). Formanowska is a member of the Polish Haiku Association and serves on the editorial team of Migratory Birds—Almanac of the Polish Haiku Association and Papierowy Żuraw (Paper Crane), an internet magazine. She is also coauthor of several haiku anthologies and edits the blog Haiku—Małgorzata Formanowska. She lives in Wrocław, Poland.
