Monica Federico (born August 10, 1966, Messina, Italy), chemical engineer working for 30 years in the semiconductor industry, currently with the Lam Research Corporation. For three years she also ran her own ceramics and painting atelier. She writes in Italian, English, French, and German. Her short stories and poetry have been included in three collections from the Scuola di Scrittura Roberto Agostini in Milan (2013–2014) and three books from other publishers. In 2012 the Haiku tradizionali —L’immenso breve Facebook group was the first to publish a haiku of hers, and her watercolors and haiga have appeared on the Haikuerelli—Monica Federico Facebook page. Her haiku in English can be found on The Haiku Foundation, Mainichi Daily News Haiku in English, and Haikuniverse websites and in print in volumes 4 and 5 of the anthology Haiku (Haiku University, Tokyo). She was listed on The European Top 100 most creative haiku authors for 2018 and 2019. Monica Federico resides in Trezzo sull’Adda (Milano), Italy.
