Svetla Pacheva-Karabova

Svetla Pacheva-Karabova (Bulgarian Cyrillic: Светла Пачева-Карабова; born September 26, 1952, Plovdiv, Bulgaria), poet, teacher, and cognitive linguist. She holds a degree in Slavic philology from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski and a PhD in linguistics from Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski. She has taught English, Czech, and Bulgarian and held the posts of associate professor, section head, and department director at Plovdiv Medical University. She is a member of the Haiku Club Plovdiv and has served as its vice chair since 2009. She is also a member of the Bulgarian Haiku Union and the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria. Pacheva-Karabova’s haiku have been published in national and international anthologies, collections, and almanacs and have won awards in national Bulgarian haiku competitions. She has participated in haiku conferences in Bulgaria, Poland, and the U.K. She resides in Plovdiv.
