
Todor Bikov (Bulgarian Cyrillic: Тодор Биков; born December 12, 1956, Pazardzhik, Bulgaria; died May 24, 2016, Plovdiv, Bulgaria). A poet, publicist, political scientist, and art critic, Bikov held university degrees in diplomacy and international relations and worked as a lecturer at Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of the Art Club (Арт клуб) newspaper (1994–2004) and cofounder of Haiku Club Plovdiv (2003). He was a member of the Union of Bulgarian Writers and five-term chairman of the Club of Cultural Figures in Plovdiv. Bikov’s work appeared in Bulgarian and international publications. He published five collections of poems (1990–2016) as well as a collection of haiku, Стихосложения: цикъл хайку (Stihoslozheniya: tsikal haiku; Poems: A Haiku Cycle) in 2012, and he edited the bilingual haiku anthology Прагове / Thresholds (2005). He also participated in the 3rd World Haiku Association Conference in Sofia (2005) and helped organize the post-conference visit of delegates to Plovdiv. Bikov resided and worked in Plovdiv from 1983.
