W G Aston (born William George Aston, April 9, 1841, near Derry, Ireland [now Londonderry (Derry), Northern Ireland, U.K.]; died Nov. 22, 1911, Beer, East Devonshire, England). British literary scholar, Japanologist, diplomat, and author, a pioneer in the study of the Japanese language, religion, and poetry.
