The Autumn Moon Haiku Contest was first held in 2012 as an informal event for Bangor (Maine) Haiku Group members. From 2017 the sponsor was Autumn Moon Haiku Journal. Poets were invited to submit one autumn-themed haiku by email. Judges in all years of the contest were Astrid Andreescu and Bruce Ross. First, Second, and Third Place as well as a varying number of honorable mentions were awarded, and the results were published in the online journal. In several years poets could include versions of their poems in their original languages. The contest was discontinued after 2022.
