Bertrand Nayet
Bertrand Nayet (born August 9, 1962, Auxerre, France), Canadian actor, director, translator, painter, editor, and poet. He worked as a teacher of French literature, the visual arts, and philosophy in the Manitoba francophone school system for nearly 30 years. Nayet had ten haiku published in André Duhaime’s Haïku sans frontières: une anthologie mondiale (1998) and has published three collections of haiku (2003, 2009, and 2014). He also writes short stories, tales, poetry, drama, and critiques. His book of poetry, L’enfant rouge, won the Rue-Deschambault Book Award in 2019. Nayet has been leader of the Kukaï Rouge since 2010 and of the Coulée d’encre writing circle since 2017. In 2016 he assumed responsibility for the Collection Haïku of Éditions David, and the following year he cofounded the Association des auteur·e·s du Manitoba français. He has lived in Saint Norbert, Manitoba, since 1975.
