Clelia Ifrim (born Cecilia Bucur, January 22, 1950, Bucharest, Romania), poet and writer. She published 25 books of poetry, drama, short prose, novels, essays about haiku and tanka, and translations. Recipient of many awards including Grand Prix, Matsuo Bashō Festival, Japan, 2011. Her book Japonia mea iubită / My loved Japan / Mein geliebtes Japan / Mon Japon bien-aime was voted one of the best books of 2011 by The Japan Times. Two of her poems were selected by JAXA—the Japan Space Agency—and stored aboard the space module Kibo of the International Space Station. Resides in Bucharest.

Daniel Onaca (born August 12, 1954, Resita, Romania, moved to Sweden in 1986), librarian, writer, publisher, translator, and poet. His literary essays and reviews have been published in a number of Romanian and Swedish literary magazines. Onaca has published one senryu, one gogyohka (5-line poem similar to tanka) collection, and eight collections of haiku with 100 haiku in each one. The latest volume, Parfumuri vechi, arome noi: poeme haiku / Gamla dofter, nya aromer: haikudikter (Old Perfumes, New Flavors: Haiku Poems) is bilingual (Romanian-Swedish) and was published in 2020. Onaca resides in Malmö, Sweden.

Eduard Țară (born February 10, 1969, Iași, Romania), mathematics teacher and haiku, tanka, and renga poet. Member of the Romanian Haiku Society since 1991, member of Romanian Kukai Group, and secretary of Sharpening the Green Pencil Haiku Contest since 2012. Țară’s honors include inclusion in countless anthologies and haiku journals worldwide and receiving more than 200 international haiku and tanka awards in 35 countries—the first haiku poet to win awards on six continents. He resides in Iași, Romania.

Ion Codrescu (born December 16, 1951, Cobadin, Romania), poet, sumi-e and haiga artist, editor, and publisher. He holds a PhD in haiga painting from the National University of Fine Arts in Bucharest. Currently associate professor at Ovidius University of Constanța. In 1992 he founded the Societatea de Haiku din Constanța (Constanța Haiku Society) and launched its bilingual journal Albatros/Albatross, organized the first of two Constanța International Haiku Festivals, and started an international haiku contest. In 2004–2006 he published Hermitage, a second bilingual journal. Codrescu has published 16 books of haiku, haiga, and essays, several of them prizewinners. He resides in Constanța, Romania.

Laura Văceanu (born Aurica Văceanu, February 15, 1948, Bucu village, Ialomita county, Romania), language teacher, poet, and prose writer. President of the Constanţa Haiku Society from 2001, editor of the haiku journal Albatros/Albatross (2003–2017; 2019–2020). She has organized 16 sessions of the National Haiku Colloquium, initiated and organized eight international haiku festivals, and taught haiku in over 56 educational establishments. She has published books of haiku, tanka, haijin, tanrenga, and renku as well as a play. Resides in Constanţa, Romania.
