Natalie Goldberg (born January 4, 1948, Brooklyn, New York), author, poet, teacher, public speaker, and painter. Zen practitioner since 1974 and studied with Dainin Katagiri Roshi. Has taught the craft of writing as a Zen practice for the past 35 years. Published 15 books, translated into 20 languages, including Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within (1986), which has sold two million copies, and Three Simple Lines: A Writer’s Pilgrimage into the Heart and Homeland of Haiku (2021). Lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
