Mercy Ikuri
Mercy Ikuri (born Mercy Nyambura Ikuri, February 21, 1993, Narok, Narok county, Kenya) recently earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Juja and is working as an environmentalist fighting invasive species in Kenya through indigenous tree planting. She discovered haiku in 2016 and within a year had won recognition in international contests, including the World Haiku Contest of the Lyrical Passion Poetry ezine, the Japan–Russia Haiku Contest, the Little Haiku Contest of IRIS magazine, and the Yamadera Bashō Memorial Museum Haiku Contest. Ikuri was the winner of the 1st Prize, Africa Category, in the inaugural Africa Haiku Prize (2020). She resides in Mwea, Kenya.
