Aljoša Vuković (born May 29, 1970, Šibenik, Croatia [Yugoslavia]), works as a security guard and is the author of more than 20 books for children and other materials in textbooks, journals, and newspapers. He also publishes riddles and writes haiku and senryu in standard Croatian and Chakavian dialect. An award-winning author, Vuković’s short-form poetry appears in Croatian anthologies and contests and has been published internationally in Iris, Failed Haiku, Asahi Haikuist Network, and Mainichi Haiku in English. He has published four haiku chapbooks. In 2019, with Danijela Grbelja, he founded an annual haiku contest at the Juraj Šižgorić City Library in Šibenik, where he resides.

Boris Nazansky (born July 16, 1953, Rijeka, Croatia [SFR Yugoslavia]), Croatian haiku poet. Graduate engineer in chemistry, entrepreneur, and chief editor of the puzzle magazine Kvizorama. He publishes poetry, short stories, and picture books and serves as coeditor of the annual Ludbreg Haiku Miscellany and chief editor of the annual Haiku Calendar/Rokovnik (2001–2008). Nazansky was on the editorial staff of Haiku magazine in 2003–2004, of Iris since 2008, and of both volumes of the anthology Nepokošeno nebo / An Unmown Sky (2011 and 2018). He has authored two independent haiku collections, coauthored three others, and received 96 awards. With Mirko Varga, he compiled the anthology Grana koja se njiše (A Swaying Bough). Nazansky lives in Zagreb, Croatia.

Božena Zernec (born May 26, 1943, Žutnica, near Krapina, Croatia [Yugoslavia]), Croatian haiku poet. Educated in the arts, she illustrates books and designs and produces souvenirs of the historical Croatian Zagorje region. Her haiku in standard Croatian and the Kajkavian dialect appear in several anthologies, and she has published two collections of haiku, a book of haibun, and Gle, čovjek! / Look, the Man!, a haiku guide through the Krapina Neanderthal Museum. One of her haiku won the Kumamoto City of Artesian Waters Haiku Award in the 13th International Kusamakura Haiku Competition, 2008. Zernec resides in Krapina.

Dejan Pavlinović (born January 30, 1968, Pula, Croatia [Yugoslavia]), Croatian haiku poet. A graduate in English and German languages and literature from the Zadar Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, he is employed as a gymnasium teacher in Pula, a part-time tour guide, and a musician in the rock band The Chweger. In 2016 Pavlinović published a haiku collection, Mliječnom stazom / Down the Milky Way, and he features haiku on his Smiling Cricket Haiku blog. He serves on the Iris magazine editorial staff, and he is the founding editor of the Haiku.Hr Facebook page. Pavlinović’s haiku are published and have won awards in contests internationally. He has also composed travel haibun from Japan and Vietnam. He lives in Pula.

Drago Štambuk (born September 20, 1950, Selca, Island of Brač, Croatia [Yugoslavia]), physician (specializing in internal medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology, and AIDS), diplomat, and poet. Served since 1991 as Croatian ambassador to the United Kingdom, India, Egypt, Japan, Brazil, and Iran. Štambuk has published haiku collections and more than 70 books of poetry, essays, translations, and anthologies. In 2010, during his posting in Japan, he founded the English-language Vladimir Devidé Haiku Award and served as the sole judge. In 1991 in his home town of Selca, he established—and still chairs—Croatia rediviva: Ča, Kaj, Što—Heritage Days, a festival celebrating the three main literary dialects of the Croatian language. In 2020 Štambuk was serving as Croatian ambassador to Iran and was based in Tehran.
