Alexander Groth (born November 12, 1997, Neubrandenburg, MV, Germany), currently studying at the Cours Florent Berlin acting school. Member of the Deutsche Haiku-Gesellschaft. Publishes haiku in German and English in Sommergras, Haiku heute, Chrysanthemum, Modern Haiku, Frogpond, Acorn, Under the Bashō, Trash Panda, Hedgerow, Presence, Prune Juice, Haikuniverse, and Haiku Commentary. Author of two collections, Blütenschwarz (Blossom-Black, 2024) and Blaue Stunde (Blue Hour, 2025). Listed among the European Top 100 Haiku Authors for 2024 and 2025. Resides in Berlin, Germany.

Claudia Brefeld (born 1956, Gronau, Germany), retired biological-technical assistant and active photographer and haikai poet. Published in German in Sommergras, Lotosblüte, Chrysanthemum and in English in Albatross, Lynx, Mainichi Daily News, and World Haiku Review. Honored in Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival contests. Artwork featured in the THF haiga galleries, and The Heron’s Nest. Coauthored The Endangered C (2021), shortlisted for the Touchstone and won an HSA Merit Book awards. Chief editor of Sommergras; currently curates the Haiga im Focus website. Member and officer of the Deutsche Haiku-Gesellschaft and member of the Österreichische Haiku-Gesellschaft. Resides in Bochum, Germany.

Deborah Karl-Brandt (born Deborah Barbara Karl, November 26, 1981, Siegen, NRW, Germany), freelance author and lecturer at the Volkshochschule Rhein-Sieg. Published in German, French, British, Canadian, American, and Ghanaian periodicals. Produced a chapbook, Der Geruch von Harz (2023) and a book, Wild Rabbit Moon (2026). Won top prizes in the Pula Film Festival Haiku Contest (2021) and the WHA Star Haiku Contest (2025). Received Touchstone Award nominations (2023, 2024); Confluence Fellow (2025–2026); Haiku Dialogue guest editor since 2023; and listed among the European Top 100 most creative haiku authors (2019, 2021–2024). Lives in Sinzig, Germany.

Eleonore Nickolay (born 1957, Koblenz, Germany), journalist and German teacher, editor, and haikai poet writing in German, French, and English. Copresident of both the German and French haiku societies and helps edit their journals. Authored books, Le Pain surprise (2018) and Dreiviertelmond (2023). Won First Place in Le Prix Jocelyne-Villeneuve (2019). Work in English published in Chrysanthemum, Failed Haiku, Revista Haiku (Romania), and Japanese newspaper haiku columns. Haiga have appeared on the WHA and NHK Haiku Masters websites and won the top prize in the Setouchi-Matsuyama Photo Haiku Contest. Resides in Vaires-sur-Marne, France.

Horst Ludwig (born Horst Eberhard Julius Ludwig, May 10, 1936, Ritterswalde, Upper Silesia, Germany [now Domaszkowice, Poland]), American academic and haikai and tanka poet, writing in both English and German. Emeritus professor of German at Gustavus Adolphus College. Twice taught at Kansai University of Foreign Studies in Japan. Won distinction in several Japan-based international haiku contests. Published two chapbooks of haiku as well as Twelve Moons: a bilingual rengay series with Max Verhart. Resides in Seattle, Washington.
