Dimitar Stefanov
Dimitar Stefanov (Димитър Стефанов), born March 20, 1932, Shumata, near Dryanovo, Bulgaria; died October 19, 2018, Sofia, poet, writer, editor, and translator, known as “the doyen of Bulgarian haiku.” Worked as editor for Radio Sofia and print publications. The first Bulgarian to publish his own book of haiku; author of more than 20 books of poems, sonnets, and more than 10 books for children. Founding member and chairman of the Bulgarian Haiku Club. and also edited the first Bulgarian haiku anthology, Дъждовни семена (Rain Seeds). Resided in Sofia, Bulgaria.
