The HaikuNow! International Haiku Contest, administered in three categories: Traditional, Contemporary, and Innovative, ran for five years, from 2010 through 2014. Any poet could enter one poem in any or all of the categories each year, and there was no entry fee. Results were traditionally announced on April 17 as part of the celebration of first National, and later, International Haiku Poetry Day.

The Touchstone Awards for Individual Poems were first presented by The Haiku Foundation in 2011 for works (haiku and senryu published in 2010) that represent noteworthy additions to English-language haiku in the estimation of a distinguished panel of haiku poets, editors, and scholars. The annual competition is open to any English-language haiku or senryu published in the current calendar year.

Every year since 2010 the Touchstone Distinguished Book Awards have been bestowed by The Haiku Foundation on published collections of poems or works of scholarship that represent noteworthy contributions to English-language haiku.
