J. Zimmerman (born Joan Zimmerman, May 4, 1945, Windermere, Westmorland, Cumbria, England; died Santa Cruz, California, U.S.A., January 19, 2026), British-American physicist, essayist, reviewer, and haiku and tanka poet. In 2013 she invented the “Buson 100” haiku challenge to write 10 haiku a day for 100 days. The same year she was selected for inclusion in A New Resonance 8. Published two major articles on gender of prizewinning poets. A dōjin of the Yuki Teikei Haiku Society, won recognition in several YTHS Contests, and served as contest coordinator in 2012–2014. Las resided in Santa Cruz, California.
