Elías Rovira Gil (born 1959, Albacete, La Mancha, Spain). Doctor of Nursing, professor at the University of Castilla–La Mancha, and haiku poet and organizer of international meetings and courses on haiku. Gil is founder (2008) and vice president of La Asociación de la Gente del Haiku en Albacete (AGHA, Association of Haiku People in Albacete) and editor-in-chief of AGHA’s haiku magazine Hojas en la acera (Leaves on the Sidewalk). He is also a member of the coordinating team of the pioneering website El Rincón del Haiku (The Haiku Corner). He has received the Haiku International Association’s Tsunenaga Hasekura Award for Best Haiku (2015) while his book Las cinco estaciones (The Five Seasons) and the Elías Roldán Prize at the Ateneo de Albacete in 2012. Gil is coauthor of the Haikupedia article “Haiku in Spain.” He resides in Albacete.
