
Stephen Henry Gill (born July 23, 1953, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, U.K.; haigō Tito). Lecturer at Kyoto University, scriptwriter for the BBC, translator, and conservationist. Gill has edited a work on Bashō and ten haiku and haibun anthologies. He served on the British Haiku Society Committee, 1991–1995. He founded the Hailstone Haiku Circle, Kansai, in 2000 and launched the Circle’s website, Icebox, in 2008. With Nobuyuki Yuasa in 2012 he founded the Genjuan International Haibun Contest. Gill resided in Kyoto, Japan, in 2020. He prepared the Haikupedia article about the Genjuan Haibun Contest.
